After spending six hours on the bus ride, I finally arrived
at South Station in Boston, Massachusetts. This was actually my first time
being in Boston, and their red-bricked houses fascinated me.
Boston,
Massachusetts.
Right after I got out from the bus, my friend from high
school took me to lunch in China Town. Boston’s crossing light got ticking
sound for people who can’t see. How thoughtful of them!
Henry took me to Kendall Station and showed me this bell
designed by MIT students. Beautiful music echoed in the station when we push
& pull the handle.
I think I passed Charles River a dozen times during my 2
days stay. It is always beautiful and energizing when I pass it every time.
I took a look at Massachusetts State House. Beacon Hill’s
famous architect, Charles Bulfinch, designs it in 1798.
Beacon
Later we arrived by the oldest public park in US, Boston
Common. It was used as a ‘common field’ to graze sheep and cattle. It was also
used as military ground and used for public hanging.
The Frog Pound was where the sheep and cattle slacked their
thirst, but now it is used as kiddy pool in the summer and ice rank in the
winter.
Public Garden is right next to Boston Common. It is the
oldest botanical garden in the US. There are a lot of street performers in the
park and people are getting suntan on the grass.
Public Garden位於Boston
Boston was infected with Zombies that day. I heard more than
4 thousands people dressed up as zombie. It is a promotion for the show “Walking
Dead”?
First Baptist Church is known as the ‘Church of the Holy
Bean Blowers’. The angels are sculpted by Auguste Bartholdi, the sculptor of
the Statue of Liberty. The angels are said to look like famous Bostonians, such
as Longfellow, Emerson, and Hawthorne. Behind the Trinity Church is the John
Hancock Tower, rising up 62 stories high with 10,000 panels of mirrored glass.
Church of the Holy
Bean Blowers”. Longfellow, Emerson, and
Hawthorne.
Quincy Market is such an exciting place to be at. The place
is filled with tourists and families. We saw Snap Boogie! I had no idea who he
is until Henry told me that he is on America’s Got Talent. He is pretty cute
;).
Quincy Market
Faneuil Hall is where the Sons of Freedom called their
meetings to discuss about British’s unfair taxation.
Faneuil Hall
I did not have a chance to try anything in the Quincy Market
because I was not hungry at the time. I heard lobster roll is a must (?).
I was patient and waited in the line for Mike’s famous
cannoli. The line was so long that it is about one block long. The line moved
pretty fast, so it is not a problem for me at all. Cannoli are so good. SO GOOD. FourSquares
told me that chocolate chips is the most popular one, but I found Florentine
too be even better. It is just my personal taste! But yes, standing in line is
so worth it.
Cannoli.
I was so excited to eat at The Daily Catch. They only use
the FRESH seafood that is caught the day of. The line formed before they open their door.
It is a tiny restaurant where you can see the chef cooks! I ordered the small
appetizer fried calamari and an appetizer potion of black pasta. I had never
been so happy in my life. The fried calamari is so fresh and yummy. The pasta
is very, very oily, but heavenly. I finished both of them.
I had fun in Harvard as well! Harvard Square is so lovely. I
love it there. I see nerdy ‘intelligent looking’ college student
challenging the Chess Master. Couples licking ice cream near the sidewalk.
Again, red bricks everywhere.
Things I missed and NEED to try next time I visit-
1.
Freedom Trail
2.
Union Oyster House
3.
Flour Bakery
